Youth Peacemakers Tanzania Conducts Mental Health Awareness Seminar for Students in Mkinga District

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) today conducted a Mental Health Awareness Seminar in Mkinga District, engaging students from Duga Secondary School and Zingibari Secondary School as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting youth well-being and peaceful communities.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness on mental health issues affecting young people, break stigma surrounding mental health, and encourage open conversations within school environments.

Students were introduced to key topics including understanding mental health, common mental health challenges among adolescents, stress management, emotional well-being, and where to seek help when facing mental health difficulties.

During the sessions, students actively participated and demonstrated a high level of interest. Many of them asked thoughtful and insightful questions related to mental health challenges they experience in their daily lives, showing a growing awareness and willingness to learn more about the subject.

The YPM team emphasized the importance of early support, peer encouragement, and speaking out without fear or shame. Students were also encouraged to support one another and to seek guidance from teachers, parents, and trusted adults whenever they face mental or emotional challenges.

The seminar concluded with a strong message that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that creating safe and supportive school environments is essential for students’ academic success and personal development.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania Promotes Peace and Gender Equality in Mkinga District Through Sports and School EngagementsYouth

Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM), through the Kujenga Amani Project, conducted a two-day field visit in Mkinga District aimed at promoting peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among young people.

Day One: Sports for Peace at Kasera Primary SchoolOn the first day of the visit, YPM organized a sports tournament at Kasera Primary School, bringing together pupils, teachers, and community members.

The activity was designed to demonstrate how sports can serve as a powerful tool for peacebuilding, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and positive interaction among children.

Alongside the tournament, pupils were engaged in discussions on:The role of sports in preventing violence, promoting gender equality and respect peaceful ways of solving conflicts.

The sessions emphasized how sports can help reduce aggressive behavior and contribute to the fight against Gender-Based Violence when guided by strong values and leadership.

Day Two and three: GBV Awareness Sessions at Secondary Schools on the second day, the YPM team visited Kwale Secondary School and Mkinga Leo Secondary School, where they conducted GBV awareness and conflict resolution sessions with students.

The discussions focused on:Types and causes of Gender-Based Violence, effects of GBV on individuals and communities, non-violent conflict resolution skills.

The role of students in promoting peace and respect; students actively participated by asking questions and sharing ideas on how they can become agents of peace within their schools and communities.

Strengthening Peace at the Community Level; The visit to Mkinga District reaffirmed YPM’s commitment to using sports, education, and dialogue as effective approaches to building peaceful and inclusive communities.

Through the Kujenga Amani Project, Youth Peacemakers Tanzania continues to empower young people with knowledge and skills to prevent violence and promote lasting peace.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania Empowers Young Mothers and Youth Through GBV and SDG Training

The training, organized as part of YPM’s ongoing commitment to empower vulnerable groups, brought together young mothers, adolescent girls, and boys from different communities in Mkinga.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) has successfully conducted a two day community training aimed at strengthening efforts to eliminate poverty and prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Mkinga District.

Day One: Empowering Young Mothers

The first day focused on young mothers, a group that often faces multiple economic and social challenges. Participants received in-depth education on the realities of GBV, its effects on families, and available reporting and support mechanisms.

They were also introduced to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with emphasis on Goal 1: No Poverty, highlighting how economic empowerment contributes to a GBV-free society.

Day Two: Engaging Young Women and Men

On the second day, YPM brought together young women and men to ensure balanced participation and collective responsibility. The youth learned about GBV prevention, gender equality, and their role in promoting peaceful and inclusive communities.

The session emphasized the importance of youth leadership in advancing social change.The two day seminar reflects YPM’s broader vision of building safe, resilient, and economically empowered communities where all individuals especially women and youth can thrive free from violence and discrimination.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) imefanikiwa kuendesha mafunzo ya siku mbili yanayolenga kuimarisha juhudi za kutokomeza umasikini na kupambana na ukatili wa kijinsia (GBV) katika Wilaya ya Mkinga.

Mafunzo haya, ambayo ni sehemu ya mikakati endelevu ya YPM ya kuwawezesha makundi yaliyo hatarini, yaliwakutanisha akina mama vijana, pamoja na vijana wa kiume na wakike kutoka jamii mbalimbali za Mkinga.

Siku ya Kwanza: Uwezeshaji kwa Akina Mama Vijana

Siku ya kwanza ililenga kundi la young mothers ambao mara nyingi hukumbana na changamoto za kiuchumi na kijamii. Washiriki walipata elimu kuhusu madhara ya ukatili wa kijinsia, njia za kuripoti na kupata msaada.

Aidha, walifundishwa kuhusu Malengo 17 ya Maendeleo Endelevu (SDGs), hususan Lengo la 1: Kutokomeza Umasikini, na namna uwezeshaji kiuchumi unavyoweza kuchangia kupunguza ukatili.

Siku ya Pili: Ushirikishwaji wa Vijana wa Kike na Kiume,

Siku ya pili ilijumuisha vijana wa kike na wa kiume kwa lengo la kuhamasisha ushiriki wa pamoja katika kupinga GBV. Vijana walipata mafunzo kuhusu kuzuia ukatili wa kijinsia, usawa wa kijinsia, na nafasi yao katika kujenga jamii salama na jumuishi.

Mafunzo yalisisitiza wajibu wa vijana kama viongozi wa mabadiliko chanya.

Mafunzo haya ya siku mbili yanaonyesha dhamira ya YPM ya kujenga jamii salama, yenye ustahimilivu na uwezo wa kiuchumi, ambamo wanawake na vijana wanaweza kuishi bila hofu ya ukatili au ubaguzi.

YPM Yaendelea Kutoa Mafunzo kwa Walimu Kuhusu Mfumo Mpya wa Midahalo wa Parliament Debate Format (PDF)

Katika kuhakikisha walimu wa shule za sekondari wanapata uelewa zaidi juu ya mfumo mpya wa uendeshaji wa midahalo ujulikanao kama Parliament Debate Format (PDF), Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) inaendelea kutoa mafunzo maalum kwa walimu kutoka shule mbalimbali za sekondari katika Wilaya ya Lushoto. Lengo la mafunzo haya ni kuhakikisha wanafunzi wanatumia mfumo huu unaolenga kuwajengea uwezo wa kujenga hoja, kutetea mada, na kukuza ujasiri wa kuzungumza mbele ya hadhira.

Mafunzo hayo yamehudhuriwa na walimu kutoka shule za sekondari za Shambalai, Prince Claus, Magamba, Shekilindi, Kitala, Kwembago, Gologolo, Lushoto, Ubiri, Mlongwema na Migambo, pamoja na mwakilishi wa Mwenyekiti wa Maafisa Elimu Kata za Wilaya ya Lushoto, Bw. Valentino M. Hizza.

Baada ya mafunzo hayo, walimu kwa kushirikiana na YPM wameandaa ratiba maalum ya mashindano ya midahalo (debates) kwa wanafunzi, ikiwa ni hatua ya utekelezaji wa mfumo huo mpya wa PDF. Kupitia ratiba hiyo, wanafunzi watapata fursa ya kutumia ujuzi waliopata darasani katika mijadala ya kitaaluma na kijamii, ikiwemo kujifunza kuheshimu mitazamo tofauti na kujenga hoja zenye mashiko.

YPM inaamini kuwa mfumo huu wa Parliament Debate Format (PDF) utachangia kwa kiasi kikubwa katika kuboresha uwezo wa wanafunzi wa kufikiri kwa kina, kujieleza kwa ufasaha, na kushiriki kikamilifu katika mijadala yenye tija kwa maendeleo yao na jamii kwa ujumla.

YPM Unveils the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC/YAB) A Platform for Youth Voices.

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) / Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is an initiative established by Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) to amplify the voices of young
people in decision-making processes. The committee provides a platform where youth can share their ideas, concerns, and solutions on issues affecting their communities, ensuring that their perspectives are meaningfully included in YPM’s programs and strategies.


The YAC/YAB serves as a bridge between young people and YPM leadership, promoting inclusive participation, transparency, and accountability in organizational initiatives. Members of the committee are drawn from diverse backgrounds to reflect the realities of young people across Tanzania, with representation from different regions, genders, and
social groups.

The YAC/YAB is not only a consultative board but also a driving force for transformation, ensuring that YPM remains rooted in the priorities and aspirations of the young people it serves.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) is proud to be represented at the official launch of a new cohort under the Youth in Action Program, alongside the Media Advocacy Initiative by Ms. Salha Daniel Themed:“Empowering Youth Voices for Constructive Civic Engagement”

The workshop, organized by GNRC, brought together 20 dynamic young leaders from Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Mtwara, and Zanzibar. One of the keynote speakers was @imani.luvanga , a renowned digital influencer, who shared powerful insights on how young people can leverage digital spaces to influence change and drive positive civic engagement.

YPM Yaendesha Mafunzo ya Public Debate Format (PDF) kwa Walimu na Wakuu wa Shule Lushoto

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM), kwa kushirikiana na wadau wa maendeleo wakiwemo Wakuu wa shule na Walimu wa midahalo (debate) kutoka shule mbalimbali za sekondari wilayani Lushoto, wameendesha mafunzo maalum ya Uendeshaji wa Midahalo kwa njia ya kisasa inayojulikana kama Public Debate Format (PDF).

Mafunzo haya yamehusisha shule za Shambalai, Mlongwema, Ngulwi, Prince Claus, Magamba, Ubiri, Lushoto, Kitala, Kwemashai, pamoja na Migambo. Lengo kuu la mafunzo haya ni kuwajengea uwezo walimu na viongozi wa shule ili waweze kuwawezesha wanafunzi wao kushiriki mijadala ya kitaaluma kwa namna yenye tija, uhuru wa hoja, nidhamu ya kisomi, na uwezo wa kupambanua changamoto za kijamii na kitaifa kwa kutumia hoja zenye ushahidi.

Kupitia Public Debate Format (PDF), YPM inalenga kuimarisha ujuzi wa vijana katika mawasiliano, uongozi, kufikiri kwa kina, na kushiriki katika mijadala ya kisera. Mafunzo haya ni sehemu ya mkakati mpana wa kuhamasisha ushiriki wa vijana katika utengamano wa jamii, utatuzi wa migogoro, na kukuza demokrasia shuleni.

YPM inaamini kuwa uwekezaji katika midahalo ni uwekezaji katika kizazi cha viongozi wa kesho — vijana wanaoweza kueleza, kusikiliza, na kushawishi kwa njia ya amani na mantiki.

YPM Washiriki Warsha ya Kampeni Kimaendeleo za Vyombo vya Habari Jijini Dar es Salaam

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) iliwakilishwa na Afisa wa Mazingira na Michezo, Bw. Francis Kamote pamoja na Salha Daniel, katika warsha ya kampeni za vyombo vya habari iliyoandaliwa na CEFA Tanzania jijini Dar es Salaam.

Warsha hiyo imelenga kujenga uwezo kwa taasisi na vijana kuhusu namna ya kuendesha kampeni zenye ushawishi kupitia vyombo vya habari na mitandao ya kijamii, kwa lengo la kuleta mabadiliko chanya katika jamii.

“Ni nafasi nzuri kwa vijana kama sisi kujifunza mbinu bora za kuifikia jamii kwa ujumbe wa maendeleo na uhamasishaji wenye kuleta manufaa katika nchi. Uwezeshaji huu umetufungua macho zaidi juu ya nguvu ya mawasiliano,” alisema Bw. Kamote.

YPM inaendelea kushirikiana na wadau mbalimbali katika kuhamasisha maendeleo endelevu kupitia sauti za vijana.

YPM Participates in Media Campaign Workshop in Dar es Salaam

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) was represented by Mr. Francis Kamote, the Environment and Sports Officer and Salha Daniel at a media campaign workshop organized by CEFA Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of organizations and youth in designing and delivering impactful media and social media campaigns to drive positive change in their communities.

“This was a great opportunity for young people like us to learn effective ways to reach the community with messages of development . This training opened our eyes to the power of communication,” said Mr. Kamote.

YPM remains committed to working with partners to promote sustainable development through the voices of young people.

Ufuatiliaji wa Maendeleo ya Vikundi vya SIG – Shume na Mziaghembei

Bw. Peter Jally, Meneja wa Miradi kutoka YPM, alifanya ziara ya ufuatiliaji na tathmini katika vijiji vya Shume na Mziaghembei kama sehemu ya juhudi za kuimarisha uendelevu wa vikundi vya vijana na wanawake vinavyosimamiwa na taasisi ya YPM.

Katika ziara hiyo, Bw. Jally alikutana na wanachama wa vikundi vya utoaji wa huduma ndogo za kifedha (SIG – Savings and Investment Groups), ambapo alifuatilia maendeleo yao, changamoto wanazokutana nazo, na kuwasisitiza kufuatilia mchakato wa usajili rasmi wa vikundi hivyo.

Aidha, alitoa elimu ya ujasiriamali pamoja na ushauri wa kitaalamu kuhusu usimamizi bora wa vikundi, ikiwa ni pamoja na utunzaji sahihi wa kumbukumbu na kuhakikisha uwazi katika shughuli zote za vikundi. Pia, aliongoza majadiliano ya pamoja kwa lengo la kutatua changamoto zinazojitokeza ndani ya vikundi hivyo.

Monitoring the Progress of SIG Groups – Shume and Mziaghembei

Mr. Peter Jally, the Project Manager at YPM, conducted a monitoring and evaluation visit in the areas of Shume and Mziaghembei as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the sustainability of youth and women groups supported by the YPM organization.

During the visit, Mr. Jally met with members of Savings and Investment Groups (SIGs) to assess their progress, understand the challenges they are facing, and emphasized the importance of following up on the formal registration process of these groups.

In addition, Mr. Peter Jally provided entrepreneurship education and professional advice on effective group management, including proper record-keeping and ensuring transparency in all group activities. He also facilitated collective discussions aimed at addressing and resolving challenges arising within the groups.

YPM at the Gamification & Design Thinking Workshop – Nairobi, Kenya

From May 19th to 29th, 2025, Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) was honored to be represented at a powerful regional workshop on Gamification and Design Thinking, hosted by AAYMCA in Nairobi.

This dynamic initiative brought together passionate youth leaders and innovators from across Africa to explore how games and creative thinking can build better, more inclusive societies. The workshop was more than learning—it was an experience in co-creation, collaboration, and community transformation.

YPM was proudly represented by Mr. Francis Kamote – Environment and Sports for Development Program Officer, Yasin Juma and Salha Daniel Youth Representative gh hands-on sessions and collaborative challenges, the team engaged with cutting-edge tools and strategies to design game-based solutions to social issues. YPM katika Warsha ya Gamification na Design Thinking – Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪

Kuanzia Mei 19 hadi 29, 2025, Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) ilishiriki katika warsha ya kikanda kuhusu Gamification na Design Thinking iliyofanyika Nairobi, Kenya na kuandaliwa na AAYMCA.

Warsha hii ilikusanya vijana kutoka nchi mbalimbali za Afrika ili kujifunza jinsi ya kutumia michezo na ubunifu kutatua changamoto za kijamii na kuleta mabadiliko katika jamii zao. Warsha hii haikuwa ya kujifunza tu, bali pia ya kushirikiana, kubuni na kujenga jamii bora kwa pamoja.

YPM iliwakilishwa na Bw. Francis Kamote – Afisa wa Programu ya Mazingira na Michezo kwa Maendeleo, pamoja na vijana Yasin Juma na Salha Daniel. Kupitia mafunzo ya vitendo na kazi za vikundi, walijifunza mbinu mpya za kutumia michezo kama njia ya kuleta suluhisho kwa matatizo ya jamii.

Tunarudi nyumbani tukiwa na ujuzi mpya na tumejipanga kutumia yale tuliyojifunza ili kuendelea kuleta mabadiliko chanya kwa jamii kupitia michezo na ubunifu. 🕹️💡
