Building Healthy Futures: Youth STI Awareness Training at Mabughai Institute

Youth Peacemakers in collaboration with Lushoto District Hospital and Mabughai Community Development Technical Institute organized an educational training session on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), attended by approximately 260 college students.

The session focused on increasing awareness about sexually transmitted infections, recognizing common symptoms, and understanding different methods of prevention and protection.
During the training, local medical doctor Omary Juma Mjema explained several common sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, chlamydia, and HIV/AIDS. He discussed how these infections are transmitted through bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and highlighted the importance of early detection and seeking medical support when symptoms occur.


The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and sharing ideas on how young people can protect themselves. Suggested prevention methods included abstinence, remaining faithful to one partner, and the use of protection.
The training aimed to promote awareness, encourage informed decision-making among young adults, and contribute to reducing stigma surrounding sexually transmitted infections within the community.

Vijana wa Mkinga Wapewa Nguvu ya Kidigitali Kupitia Mahafali ya YPM

Mahafali ya siku ya pili katika Kituo cha Mafunzo ya Kompyuta cha Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) – Mkinga yameendelea kuonesha mafanikio makubwa ya vijana waliopata nafasi ya kujifunza ujuzi wa kidigitali. Wahitimu hao wamekamilisha mafunzo yao wakiwa na uwezo wa kutumia kompyuta katika shughuli mbalimbali za kila siku, pamoja na kutumia maarifa hayo kujiajiri na kujiongezea kipato.

Kupitia mafunzo hayo, vijana wa Mkinga wamepata nafasi ya kujifunza stadi muhimu za teknolojia zinazowawezesha kukabiliana na changamoto za ajira na kufungua milango ya fursa mpya za kiuchumi. Mafunzo hayo yamejikita katika matumizi ya kompyuta, programu mbalimbali za ofisini, pamoja na maarifa ya msingi ya kidigitali yanayohitajika katika dunia ya sasa.

Hafla hiyo iligubikwa na furaha, matumaini, na hamasa kubwa kutoka kwa wahitimu pamoja na wageni mbalimbali waliohudhuria. Wahitimu walionesha shukrani zao kwa YPM kwa kuwapatia nafasi ya kupata elimu yenye manufaa, wakieleza kuwa ujuzi walioupata utakuwa msingi muhimu wa kuboresha maisha yao na kuleta mabadiliko chanya katika jamii zao.

Aidha, wahitimu hao walisisitiza umuhimu wa kuendelea kuwekeza katika elimu ya teknolojia kwa vijana, wakibainisha kuwa mafunzo hayo yana mchango mkubwa katika kuwawezesha vijana kujitegemea na kuongeza ushindani katika soko la ajira.

Mahafali haya ya siku ya pili yanaendelea kuwa ushahidi wa dhamira ya YPM katika kuwekeza kwa vijana kupitia elimu ya teknolojia na ubunifu. Kupitia programu hizi, YPM inaendelea kujenga jamii yenye vijana wenye ujuzi, uwezo, na matumaini ya maisha bora ya baadaye.

YPM Computer Center Yafungua Milango ya Fursa kwa Vijana wa Tanga

Katika kuendelea kuwekeza kwenye maendeleo ya vijana kupitia elimu ya teknolojia, Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) kupitia YPM Computer Center – Tawi la Tanga imefanikiwa kuhitimisha wanafunzi 6 waliokamilisha mafunzo ya kompyuta kwa mafanikio. Mahafali hayo yamekuwa ishara ya mafanikio na hatua muhimu katika kuwawezesha vijana kupata ujuzi wa kidigitali unaohitajika katika dunia ya sasa.

Mafunzo yaliyotolewa katika kituo hicho yamelenga kuwajengea washiriki uwezo wa kutumia kompyuta, programu mbalimbali za ofisini, pamoja na stadi muhimu za kidigitali zinazowawezesha kuongeza ushindani katika soko la ajira na kujiajiri. Kupitia mafunzo hayo, wahitimu wameweza kupata maarifa na ujuzi utakaowasaidia kuboresha maisha yao binafsi na kuchangia maendeleo ya jamii inayowazunguka.

Akizungumza kwa niaba ya wahitimu, mmoja wa wanafunzi hao aliishukuru YPM kwa kuwapatia nafasi ya kujifunza katika mazingira rafiki na yenye kuwajengea uwezo. Wahitimu hao pia walitoa pendekezo la kupanua eneo la mafunzo ili kutoa nafasi kwa vijana wengi zaidi kupata fursa ya kujifunza ujuzi wa teknolojia, wakieleza kuwa mahitaji ya elimu ya kompyuta yanaongezeka siku hadi siku.

Mahafali hayo yameonyesha namna ambavyo elimu ya teknolojia inaweza kuwa nyenzo muhimu katika kupambana na changamoto ya ukosefu wa ajira na umaskini kwa vijana. Kupitia programu hii, YPM inaendelea kufungua milango ya matumaini na fursa mpya kwa vijana kwa kuwapatia maarifa yatakayowawezesha kujitegemea na kuwa sehemu ya mabadiliko chanya katika jamii.

YPM inaendelea kuwa na dhamira ya kuwekeza katika elimu, ubunifu, na maendeleo ya vijana kwa kuhakikisha wanapata ujuzi unaowaandaa kukabiliana na mahitaji ya dunia ya kidigitali na kuchangia maendeleo endelevu ya taifa.

VICOBA na Teknolojia ya Kidigitali: Njia Mpya ya Kuleta Mabadiliko ya Kiuchumi

Ukosefu wa ajira na umaskini ni miongoni mwa changamoto kubwa zinazoendelea kuathiri maendeleo ya jamii katika maeneo mbalimbali. Changamoto hizi zimekuwa zikisababisha utegemezi wa kiuchumi, kupungua kwa fursa za maendeleo, na kushuka kwa ustawi wa familia nyingi. Kutokana na hali hiyo, juhudi mbalimbali zimeendelea kufanyika ili kuhakikisha jamii inajengewa uwezo wa kujikwamua kiuchumi na kuwa na maisha bora zaidi.

Kwa kuongozwa na kaulimbiu ya “Tokomeza Umaskini”, Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) imeendelea kutekeleza programu mbalimbali za uwezeshaji wa jamii kupitia vikundi vya huduma ndogo za kifedha (VICOBA). Kupitia programu hizi, YPM imekuwa ikiendesha warsha na mafunzo kwa wawezeshaji wa vikundi kwa lengo la kuimarisha uwezo wao katika kusimamia na kuviendeleza vikundi hivyo kwa ufanisi zaidi.Warsha hizo zimekuwa zikitoa nafasi kwa wawezeshaji kujadili changamoto wanazokutana nazo katika kuunda na kuendesha vikundi vya VICOBA, pamoja na changamoto zinazowakabili wanachama wa vikundi hivyo katika shughuli zao za kila siku.

Kupitia majadiliano hayo, washiriki wameweza kubadilishana uzoefu, kujifunza mbinu mpya za utatuzi wa changamoto, na kujenga mikakati ya kuhakikisha vikundi vinaendelea kuwa imara na endelevu.Sambamba na hilo, wawezeshaji wamepatiwa mafunzo ya matumizi ya teknolojia ya kidigitali kupitia programu ya Kobo (Kobo App) kwa ajili ya ukusanyaji wa taarifa. Matumizi ya mfumo huo yamelenga kurahisisha ukusanyaji, uhifadhi, na uchambuzi wa taarifa kwa ufanisi zaidi, hatua inayosaidia kuongeza uwazi na kuboresha ufuatiliaji wa maendeleo ya vikundi.Katika mjadala huo, wawezeshaji wameishauri YPM kuongeza juhudi za kufanya ufuatiliaji wa mara kwa mara kwa vikundi vya VICOBA ili kuhakikisha changamoto zinazojitokeza zinapatiwa ufumbuzi kwa wakati.

Ushauri huo umeonyesha umuhimu wa ushirikiano wa karibu kati ya YPM, wawezeshaji, na wanachama wa vikundi katika kuhakikisha vikundi vinazidi kuwa chachu ya maendeleo ya kiuchumi kwa jamii.Kupitia juhudi hizi, YPM inaendelea kuthibitisha dhamira yake ya kuwawezesha wananchi, hususan vijana na wanawake, kujenga uchumi imara, kuongeza kipato, na kuleta mabadiliko chanya katika jamii zao.

Building Peace Together Through Youth Engagement

Youth PeaceMakers (YPM) participated in a dialogue session organized by WeWorld in collaboration with the Kujenga Amani Project in Tanga Region. The forum brought together young people, community leaders, and development stakeholders to discuss issues related to peacebuilding, youth participation, and sustainable community development.

The Kujenga Amani Project continues to play an important role in creating safe and inclusive spaces where young people can actively participate in conversations that shape their communities. Through dialogues, community engagement activities, and capacity-building initiatives, the project empowers youth to become ambassadors of peace, social cohesion, and positive change.

During the session, participants exchanged ideas and experiences on the importance of youth inclusion in decision-making processes, conflict prevention, and strengthening peaceful coexistence within communities. The discussions also highlighted the need for continued collaboration between young people, civil society organizations, and development partners in promoting long-term peace and resilience.

The dialogue served as both a learning and networking opportunity, strengthening partnerships and inspiring collective action toward building communities that are peaceful, inclusive, and youth-driven.

At Youth PeaceMakers (YPM), strengthening our organization begins with strengthening the systems that guide our work. Today, the YPM Director, staff, and volunteers came together in a collaborative session to review, refine, and strengthen organizational policies.

The session created space for open dialogue, shared learning, and meaningful contributions aimed at improving the effectiveness, transparency, and relevance of our policies. Beyond policy review, the engagement also served as a powerful reminder of our shared values, professional standards, and collective commitment to accountability, integrity, and sustainable impact within the communities we serve.

International Women’s Day at Magamba Ward

Today in Lushoto we celebrated International Women’s Day at Magamba Ward, Koteti, bringing together community members, local leaders, women, youth, and different stakeholders to recognize the important role women play in building strong and peaceful communities.

International Women’s Day, celebrated every year on March 8, is a global day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women while also raising awareness about the challenges they continue to face. The day provides an opportunity to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the protection of women’s rights in all sectors of society.

During the celebration in Magamba Ward, the event created a platform for discussion and reflection on issues affecting women and girls in the community. Participants emphasized the importance of educating girls, supporting women economically, preventing gender-based violence, and ensuring equal opportunities for women in leadership and decision-making.

Community leaders and stakeholders also encouraged men and boys to become allies in promoting gender equality. When communities work together to support women and girls, it contributes to sustainable development, stronger families, and peaceful societies.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania Conducts Mental Health Awareness Seminar for Students in Mkinga District

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM) today conducted a Mental Health Awareness Seminar in Mkinga District, engaging students from Duga Secondary School and Zingibari Secondary School as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting youth well-being and peaceful communities.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness on mental health issues affecting young people, break stigma surrounding mental health, and encourage open conversations within school environments.

Students were introduced to key topics including understanding mental health, common mental health challenges among adolescents, stress management, emotional well-being, and where to seek help when facing mental health difficulties.

During the sessions, students actively participated and demonstrated a high level of interest. Many of them asked thoughtful and insightful questions related to mental health challenges they experience in their daily lives, showing a growing awareness and willingness to learn more about the subject.

The YPM team emphasized the importance of early support, peer encouragement, and speaking out without fear or shame. Students were also encouraged to support one another and to seek guidance from teachers, parents, and trusted adults whenever they face mental or emotional challenges.

The seminar concluded with a strong message that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that creating safe and supportive school environments is essential for students’ academic success and personal development.

Youth Peacemakers Tanzania Promotes Peace and Gender Equality in Mkinga District Through Sports and School EngagementsYouth

Peacemakers Tanzania (YPM), through the Kujenga Amani Project, conducted a two-day field visit in Mkinga District aimed at promoting peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among young people.

Day One: Sports for Peace at Kasera Primary SchoolOn the first day of the visit, YPM organized a sports tournament at Kasera Primary School, bringing together pupils, teachers, and community members.

The activity was designed to demonstrate how sports can serve as a powerful tool for peacebuilding, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and positive interaction among children.

Alongside the tournament, pupils were engaged in discussions on:The role of sports in preventing violence, promoting gender equality and respect peaceful ways of solving conflicts.

The sessions emphasized how sports can help reduce aggressive behavior and contribute to the fight against Gender-Based Violence when guided by strong values and leadership.

Day Two and three: GBV Awareness Sessions at Secondary Schools on the second day, the YPM team visited Kwale Secondary School and Mkinga Leo Secondary School, where they conducted GBV awareness and conflict resolution sessions with students.

The discussions focused on:Types and causes of Gender-Based Violence, effects of GBV on individuals and communities, non-violent conflict resolution skills.

The role of students in promoting peace and respect; students actively participated by asking questions and sharing ideas on how they can become agents of peace within their schools and communities.

Strengthening Peace at the Community Level; The visit to Mkinga District reaffirmed YPM’s commitment to using sports, education, and dialogue as effective approaches to building peaceful and inclusive communities.

Through the Kujenga Amani Project, Youth Peacemakers Tanzania continues to empower young people with knowledge and skills to prevent violence and promote lasting peace.
