Youth Peacemakers in collaboration with Lushoto District Hospital and Mabughai Community Development Technical Institute organized an educational training session on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), attended by approximately 260 college students.

The session focused on increasing awareness about sexually transmitted infections, recognizing common symptoms, and understanding different methods of prevention and protection.
During the training, local medical doctor Omary Juma Mjema explained several common sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, chlamydia, and HIV/AIDS. He discussed how these infections are transmitted through bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and highlighted the importance of early detection and seeking medical support when symptoms occur.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and sharing ideas on how young people can protect themselves. Suggested prevention methods included abstinence, remaining faithful to one partner, and the use of protection.
The training aimed to promote awareness, encourage informed decision-making among young adults, and contribute to reducing stigma surrounding sexually transmitted infections within the community.
