3rd SADC Youth Forum

Around 12 YPM youth have gathered here at the YPM head office in Lushoto to attend 3rd Southern of Africa Development Community (SADC) meeting hosted in Malawi via Zoom. The theme of the meeting is “Blue and Green Economy for Sustainable Development” . During the first day of meeting the following topics have been addressed;

“Stop the Bleeding: Enhancing Domestics Resource Mobilization to Finance Youth Development (Bolstering SADC youth participation in global tax reforms to curb IFFs and improve finance for sustainable development in Africa”) and the other session was about Strategies to ensure Inclusive and Quality Education During Covid-19 Pandemic.

YOUTH AND EMPLOYMENT IN THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD

YPM attended a public lecture prepared by the University of Arusha on the topic of youth and employment in the contemporary world held at University of Arusha. The public lecture was hosted by the University of arusha administration lead by the Vice chancellor Professor Patrick Manu. The guest speaker was Honorable Humphrey Polepole a member of the Parliament of United republic of Tanzania and a Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Administration and Local Government in the Parliament of United republic of Tanzania.

Other stakeholders from national level (Tanzania Employment Services Agency under the Prime Minister’s Office Labor, Employment, Youth and People with Disability) and reginal level (the east African Community Youth Council) attended the event.

During the presentation Mr. Humphrey Polepole urged that, in Tanzania there is a low level of unemployment estimated to 2% to 6 % but there is a high level of underemployment and this is because firstly, the education system does not allow youth to have productivity in the employment secondly poor agriculture system which employs 75% of Tanzanians and  contributing to over 29% of the Growth Domestic Product thirdly, young people do not see the challenges facing the world as an opportunity to  them and  offer solutions through innovation ,creative thinking and  lastly the Government does not fully participate in the fourth added Hon. Polepole.  

Hon. Polepole further concluded that, the government shall modify the education system that will prepare well youth and provides support to the education institution so that they can produce desirable skills to meet the employment market demands. Not only that but also, the government shall participate and prepare youth effectively in the fourth industrial revolution.

Shirika la Youth Peace Makers Tanzania limeanzisha kampeni kubwa ya Kutokomeza Unyanayasaji na Ukatili kwa Watoto kupitia jukwaa lake la vijana liitwalo Youth Peace Makers Forum Tanzania. Tukio hilo kubwa limefanyika Moshi Kilimanjaro katika ukumbi wa mikutano wa YMCA. Wadau mbalimbali wanaopigania haki za mtoto walihudhulia na kuwasilisha mada mabalimbali kwaajili ya kukuza uwelewa wawashiriki. Shirika linatambua Mchango na ushiriki mzuri wa Mrs. Matilda Phillip mwanasheria wa zamani wa UNICEF ambae alitoa maada juu ya sheria zinazolinda haki ya mtoto pamoja na kuonyesha ni wapi sheria hizo zinaweza kurekebishwa ili ziweze kuongeza tija katika kupambana na ukatili na unyanyasaji kwa watoto,

Mrs. CPL Hapiness Eliufoo kutoka dawati la jinsia Wilaya Hai,Mr.Helga Simon kutoka ustawi wa jamii wilaya Hai, na Mr. Mwelinde Jason kutoka ustawi wa jamii Chuo cha Afya Machame. Taasisi inapenda kupongeza Vyuo vyote pamoja na watu wote waliohudhuria kwenye tukio hili kubwa la kuweka mikakati juu ya kupinga na kutokomeza unyanyasaji dhidi ya watoto. Akizungumza na vijana waliodhururia kwenye kongamano hilo Mkurugezi wa Taasisi ya YPM Mch. Godgfrey T walalaze aliwashukuru vijana kwa kushiki vyema lakini pia kuwaasa kuchukua hatua stahiki ili kupinga Unyanyasaji na Ukatili kwa watoto. Mch. Walalaze aliendelea kuwaambia vijana kua nguvu na tegemeo la Taifa katika maendeleo vipo mikononi mwa vijana hivyo vijana wanapaswa kufanya kazi kwa bidii ili kujikwamua kiuchumi na kuleta maendeleo katika Taifa letu.Aidha, aliwashukuru vijana wote walioshiriki kikamilifu katika kuandaa kongamano hilo ambalo ni mala ya kwanza kufanyika na kuwaomba wawe na moyo huo huo wakujituma katika shughuli zinazoleta maendeleo kwa Taifa.

Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAP) the Month to End Violence and Child Abuse.

Youth Peace Makers Tanzania has launched a major campaign to end Child Abuse and Violence through its youth forum called Youth Peace Makers Forum Tanzania. The big event took place in Moshi Kilimanjaro at the YMCA conference hall. Various stakeholders fighting for the rights of the child attended and presented various topics for raising awareness among the participants. The organization recognizes the contribution and positive participation of Mirs. Matilda Phillip, a former UNICEF attorney who provided information on child protection laws as well as where the laws could be amended to increase productivity in the fight against child abuse and violence, Gender Desk representative Mrs.

YPM would also like to congratulate all the Colleges as well as all the people who attended this great event to put in place strategies to prevent and eradicate child abuse. Speaking to the young people who attended the event, the Director of YPM Organisation Rev. Godgfrey T. Walalaze thanked the youth for their positive attitude but also urged them to take appropriate action to combat child abuse and violence. Rev. Walalaze also told the participants that, the strength and reliance of the Nation in development is in the hands of the youth so the youth should work hard to get rid of poverty and Injustice and bring development in the Nation. In concluding, the Director urge them to have the same heart to commit themselves to activities that bring development to the Nation.

DIGITAL EAST AFRICAN CUP

Kila mwaka Y Global na washarika wake huandaa mashindano ya michezo ya Afrika Mashariki ambayo hufanyika mkoani Kilimanjaro Tanzania. Mashindano hayo hushirikisha  Nchi wanachama wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki ambapo mashirika yote huleta timu mbalimbali katika mashindano haya.

Mwaka huu kutokana na janga la Uviko 19 imekua vigumu kushiriki mashindano kama ilivyokua kawaida. Y Global na washarika wake wametumia njia mbadala yakufanya mashindano haya kwa njia ya mtandao, ambapo kulitolewa masomo na majadiliano tofauti tofauti kuhusu michezo,jinsi ya kujikinga na magonjwa mbali mbali ikiwemo Uviko 19, Ujasiriamali, Usimamizi wa miradi na Kuongeza michezo mipya katika mashindano.

Tukiwa kama msharika wa Y Global (Shirika la vijana waleta amani Tanzania) tuliandaa vijana 14 kutoka klabu ya amani ya vijana ya chuo cha Uongozi wa mahakama na vijana wanaojitolea, ambao walishiriki katika mashindano hayo kwa kujifunza na kujadili masomo yote yaliotolewa katika kipindi cha siku mbili kuanzia tarehe 24 Juni mpaka 25 Juni 2021.

Every year Y Global and its partners host an East African sports tournament which used to take place in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. The tournament involves member states of the East African Community where all partners organization bring different teams to the competition.

This year due to the Covid 19 Pandemic it has been difficult to participate in the competition physically. Y Global and its partners have used alternative way by conducting online competitions whereby the presentation on variety sports related courses, how to protect ourselves from various diseases including Covid 19, Entrepreneurship, Project Management and Adding new games in competitions were taught and discussed through Zoom meeting.

As a partner of Y Global (Youth Peace Makers Tanzania) organized 14 young people from the Institute of Judiciary Administration Peace Club and Youth Peace Makers Volunteers were participated in this competition and learned all the lessons given in two days from the date. 24 June to 25 June 2021.

Trees Planting

Jitihada za kutunza Mazingira zinazofanywa na Youth Peace Makers Tanzania ikishikiriki kikamilifu katika utekelezaji wa Maendeleo Endelevu ya Dunia hasa lengo namba 13 linalosema Kuchukua Hatua juu ya Mabadiliko ya Hali ya Hewa zimezidi kupamba moto ambapo YPM imegawa miche ya miti kwa jamii katika ukanda wa tambarare Mkoa wa Tanga. Zoezi hili limesimamiwa na Kikundi Cha Kijamii Cha Huduma Ndogo za Fedha cha Mgombezi ambao ndio wasimamizi wa kitalu cha YPM kilichopo Mgombezi. YPM imegawa miche 200 kwa Shule ya Msingi  Mswaha, miche 250 kwa Vikundi vya Kijamii vya Huduma Ndogo za Fedha vya Handeni, Vikundi vya Komsala miche 60, Dumizi Mgombezi miche 100, Kanisa la Roma   Mgombezi miche 30,Misikiti ya Mgombezi miche 200 na Shule ya Msingi Mgambo miche 200. YPM inapenda kuwakumbusha kwamba miti hii inatolewa bure kabisa, na jukumu lako uliepokea huduma hii nikuhakikisha kuwa miti hiyo inatunzwa na  inakua iliiweze kukunufaisha wewe na jamii inayokuzunguka.

The tremendous efforts to protect the environment by Youth Peace Makers Tanzania have continued to bear fruits whereby YPM is actively participating in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in particular goal number 13 among other goals. The goal number 13 says “CLIMATE ACTION” which means taking action on Climate Change. In making sure that we tackle the challenge, YPM had distributed tree seedlings to communities in the lower land part of the Region of Tanga. The activity was supervised by the Community Microfinance Group of Mgombezi who take care of the YPM trees nursery at Mgombezi. YPM has distributed 200 trees to Mswaha Primary School, 250 trees to Handeni SIGs, 60 trees to SIGs at Komsala , 100 Trees to Duminzi Mgombezi, Roman Catholic  Church 30 trees, Mosques around Mgombezi 200 trees and 200 trees to Mgambo Primary School.

YPM would like to remind you that these trees are provided free of charge, and your responsibility when receiving this service is to ensure that the trees are cared for and grow so that it can benefit you and the community around you.

The International African Child Day

Today, June 16, the world celebrates the International Day of the African Child with the message “Implement the 2040 Agenda, for the Africa that Protect Children’s Rights”. In Lushoto district this ceremony took place in Yoghoi village where Government, Private and Government Officials came together to educate the community on the eradication of child abuse and violence. YPM Environment and Advocacy Officer Miss. Lidya Mshemu got a chance to talk to parents as well as children. Miss Mshemu, urged parents to reflect on this important day for children and the world at large and to see how they can work with various development partners and the Government to end child abuse and ensure that children get their rights. He added that YPM recognizes and fights for the rights of the child by launching a ‘Let Me Study Education is my Redeemer, conducting various dialogue and encouraging community to fight against Early Marriage and Early Pregnancy which has been a big challenge that have led to school drop out for many young girls. Not only that, but YPM has succeeded in contributing to the cost of health insurance for some vulnerable children in Lushoto District as well as distributing water containers for hand washing to schools to enable children to protect themselves from diarrhea and typhoid and improve their hygiene. All of this is to ensure that YPM is in support of the community development and enables children to fulfill their future dreams.As a parent, guardian, youth or development partner, let us work together to protect the African children as they are our treasure.

Leo tarehe 16 ya mwezi Juni dunia inaazimisha Siku ya Kimataifa ya Mtoto wa Afrika yenye  ujumbe “Tutekeleze Ajenda 2040, kwa Afrika inayolinda Haki za mtoto”. Katika wilaya Lushoto maazimisho haya yamefanyika Katika kijiji cha Yoghoi ambapo Viongozi wa Serikali,Mashirika Binafsi na Yakiserikali wamejumuika kwapamoja ilikuelimisha jamii juu za kutokomeza vitendo vya kinyanyasaji na ukatili dhidi ya watoto.Afisa Mazingira na Utetezizi wa YPM Miss. Lidya Mshemu alipata nafasi ya kuzungumza na wazazi pamoja na watoto. Miss Mshemu, aliwaasa wazazi kutafakari juu ya siku hii muhimu kwa watoto na dunia kwaujumla na kuona nijinsi gani wanweza kushirikiana na wadau mbalimbali wamaendeleo na Serikali ili kutokomeza ukatili kwa watoto na kuhakikisha kwamba watoto wanapata haki zao. Aliongeza kwa kusema kwamba, YPM inatambua na kupigania Haki za Mtoto kwa kuanzisha kampeni ya ”Niache nisome Elimu ndio Mkombozi wangu, Kuendesha majadiliano mbalimbali na kuhamasisha jamii kupiga vita Ndoa za Utotoni na Mimba za Utotoni. Si hivyo tu, lakini YPM imefanikiwa kuchangia gharama za bima ya Afya kwa baadhi ya Watoto wanaoishi kwenye mazingira magumu hapa Wilaya Lushoto pamoja na kusambaza ndoo za kunawia mikono mashuleni ili kuwezesha watoto kujikinga na magonjwa ya kuhara na typhoid. Yote haya nikuhakikisha kua YPM inakua msaada kwa jamii na kuwezesha watoto kutimiza ndoto zao.

SIGs Monitoring and Evaluation

Kuanzia tarehe 08 ya mwezi wa 06 hadi tarehe 10 ya mwezi Juni YPM imetembelea Vikundi Vya Kijamii Vya Huduma Ndogo za Fedha Halimashauri ya Bumbuli katika kijiji cha Muwao, Kabuku Wilayani Handeni, Tanga mjini pamoja na Duga Maforoni na Moa. Lengo kuu la ziara hiyo nikutatua changamoto mbalimbali zinazokubwa vikundi pamoja na kuwaelimisha na kuwahamasisha wanavikundi kusajili vikundi vyao. Zaidi ya yote Elimu ya Ujasiliamari ilitolewa kwa wanavikundi hao ili wana vikundi hao waweze kuchangamkia fursa mabalimbali za kiuchumi wanazokutana nazo.

From the 08th of the month of 06 to 10th of June YPM has visited the Community Small Financial Services Groups Bumbuli Council in Muwao village, Kabuku in Handeni District, Tanga town as well as Duga Maforoni and Moa. The main purpose of the visit is to address the various challenges facing groups as well as to educate and motivate group members to register their groups. Most of all, Entrepreneurship Education was provided to these group members to empower them to grab all economic opportunities with and outside their residence areas.

Tarehe 5 ya mwezi wa 6 kila mwaka dunia husherehekea siku ya Mazingira Duniani, siku hii ilianzishwa rasmi na Umoja wa Mataifa mwaka 1972 ikiwa na kusudi kubwa la kueleza changamoto mbalimbali zinazokuba mazinira yetu lakini pia kusaidia kuelimisha jamii juu ya mazingira,changamoto zinzokumba mazingira na njia gani zitumike ili kutunza mazingira.Kwa mwaka huu Siku ya mazingira duniani imeazimishwa nchini Pakistani,kitaifa imeazimishwa Makao Makuu ya nchi jijini Dodoma halikadhirika kiwilaya imefanyika Kata ya Lushoto katika viwanja vya Nyerere Squire.Sikuu hii imebeba kauli mbiu inayosema “KUOKOA MFUMO WA IKOLOGIA” .Katika siku hii muhimu YPM imeshiriki kutuza mazingira kwa kugawa miti na kupanda miti zaidi ya mia tatu(300) katika vikundi vya kijamii vya huduma ndogo za fedha vya kata ya Ngulwi.Meneja miradi Bwan. Peter Jally akiambatana na Afisa Mazingira na Utetezi Bi.Lidya Mshemu pamoja na wafanya kazi wengine wa YPM wamehamasisha vikundi hivyo juu ya utunzaji wa mazingira kwa kupanda miti lakini pia, kwakutumia nishati mbadala. Watumishi hao wa YPM walivieleza vikundi hivyo madhara yanayotokea kotokana utonzaji mbovu ma mazingira kama mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa yaliopelekea mvua nyingi kunyesha na kuharibu mazao pamoja na miundo mbinu kwa mwaka 2020.Baada ya hapo zoezi la upandaji miti liliendelea kwenye mashamba yao ambapo wanavikundi hao walielekezwa vipimo sahihi na naamna ya kupanda miti hiyo.

The World Environmental Day

On the 5th of June every year the world celebrates World Environment Day, this day was officially established by the United Nations in 1972 with the aim of highlighting the various challenges facing our environment but also helping to educate society about the environment. This year World Environment Day has been celebrated in Pakistan, national has been celebrated at the country’s Capital City in Dodoma and District level was celebrated at Lushoto ward on the Nyerere squire ground. On this important day, YPM has been involved in protecting the environment by donating trees and planting more than three hundred (300) trees to the Community Microfinance Groups (CMGs)of Ngulwi Ward in Lushoto District. The Program Manager Mr. Peter Jally accompanied by Environment and Advocacy Officer Ms. Lidya Mshemu along with other YPM staff members have encouraged the groups on environmental protection by planting trees but also by using renewable energy The YPM staff briefed the groups on the effects of poor weather and climate change, which led to heavy rains and crop failures as well as infrastructure in 2020. After that, tree planting continued on their farms where the group members were directed on the accurate measurements and on how to plant those trees better.

Taasisi ya YPM ikiongozwa na Meneja Miradi Mr. Peter Jally pamoja na wafanyakazi wengine wa YPM wametembelea Vikundi vya Kijamii vya Huduma Ndogo za Fedha (Community Microfinance Groups (CMGs). Vikundi vilivyotembelewa ni vya Mnazi pamoja na Mbaramo katika Wilaya Lushoto. Aidha, Meneja Miradi katika semina alioiendesha amewaeleza wanavikundi hao na kuwafafanulia juu ya sheria inayovitaka vikundi hivyo visajiliwe. Pamoja na hayo alisisitiza mshikamano na kufuata sheria,kanuni na taaratibu ambazo vikundi hivyo vimejiwekea ilikuhakikisha vinafikia malengo yao.

In addition, the Program Manager emphasized the groups to follow all the rules, regulations and procedures that the groups have set themselves to ensure that they achieve their goals.
